Anifah holds TN50 dialogue with Malaysians in New York

-

PUTRAJAYA: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman has engaged with more than 100 Malaysians in a warm National Transformation 2050 ( TN50) dialogue in New York on Sunday.

Wisma Putra in a statement today said the participants had engaged with Anifah in a robust discussion and shared their aspirations for Malaysia’s future.

It said the participants in sharing their aspirations, highlighted the importance of education empowerment and talent development for the younger generation in preparing Malaysia to face future challenges.

“The participants also expressed their hope for a greater Malaysia that all Malaysians can be proud of, in the future,” it added.

The issue of future employment opportunities in the country was also one of the main concerns raised by the participants, said Wisma Putra.

It said the dialogue was the third TN50 dialogue by Anifah involving Malaysians abroad, with the first having been held in London, United Kingdom on July 7, followed by Manila, the Philippines on Aug 5.

Wisma Putra said as the custodian of Malaysia’s foreign policy, the ministry had a unique role to play not just in supporting the TN50 process, but also in spearheading efforts to engage with Malaysians abroad and in contributing towards shaping the aspirations for Malaysia’s conduct of international relations over the next 30 years.

The TN50 initiative, a brainchild of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, is aimed to set the national development agenda and trajectory for the next 30 years in inclusive and progressive process, driven by clear targets and timelines to be collectively determined through a ‘ bottom- up’ approach.

Wisma Putra said the ministry, together with the TN50 Special Unit, Economic Planning Unit ( EPU), was also organising a TN50 photo contest themed, ‘ My Aspiration, My Future’.

The contest which runs from July 7 to Oct 31 this year, is open to all Malaysians currently residing abroad. Its aim is to encourage Malaysians abroad to express their aspirations for the country in 2050, by sharing their photos on Instagram and Twitter. — Bernama
