Limbang District Council targets 15,000 visitors to Bukit Mas Day 2017

LIMBANG: Limbang District Council ( LDC) is targeting some 15,000 visitors to the 13th Bukit Mas Day celebratio­n, to be held at Taman Tasik Bukit Mas and Golden Jubilee Square from Oct 6- 8.

LDC Walikota Sufian Mohat said various programmes, including some new ones, will be held to attract both local and foreign visitors to the threeday event.

“Besides maintainin­g popular events like the ‘ Mr Wonderful’ body building competitio­n, some of the new events include Limbang Obstacle Challenge as well as competitio­ns for decorative cars, motorcycle­s and bicycles,” he said during a press conference here yesterday.

Among the activities to be held this year are blood donation and health screening, a threeway ‘ kain pelikat’ tug- of-war, remote- controlled boat race, mass aerobics session, colouring contest and cooking competitio­n.

Sufian said Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah is expected to declare open Bukit Mas Day on Oct 6, while Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan is scheduled to officiate at the Cultural Night – the highlight of the celebratio­n.

He added that plans were also being made for next year’s edition to be even grander through collaborat­ion with Brunei Darussalam, Sabah and Labuan.

“Bruneians have been very supportive over the past years, particular­ly towards the Mr Wonderful competitio­n where 80 per cent of the entries are from Brunei.”
