Busy day for Zahid in China
BEIJING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had a meeting with Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs, Communist Party of China, Meng Jianzhu in the capital, yesterday.
Ahmad Zahid met Meng for about an hour at the Political and Legal Affairs office, here.
Also present were Inspector- General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun, Malaysian ambassador to China Datuk Zainuddin Yahya, Home Ministry deputy secretarygeneral ( Security) Datuk Seri Mustafa Ibrahim and officials.
Earlier, Ahmad Zahid attended the opening ceremony of the 86th General Assembly of Interpol at the China National Convention Centre, here.
The ceremony was officiated by the People’s Republic of China ( PRC) President Xi Jinping.
Ahmad Zahid arrived in China with his wife Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis on Monday for a threeday visit.
His visit is at the invitation of China Public Security Minister, Guo Sheng Kun.
Ahmad Zahid’s visit to China is to boost bilateral ties and cooperation with the country and Interpol state members.
He also made a courtesy call on Guo at Diaoyutai State Guest House at 4.40pm.
Later at the same venue, Ahmad Zahid would hold a group meeting with Meng Jianzhu and Interpol president Meng Ho Wei for half an hour before attending the Interpol welcoming banquet dinner.
Ahmad Zahid will depart for Kuala Lumpur at noon today. — Bernama
