Tanglung festival livens up Bintulu Paragon

BINTULU: Bintulu Paragon here is teeming with activities held in conjunctio­n with Bintulu Tanglung Festival 2017 which was launched Tuesday evening.

Federation of Registered Chinese Associatio­n ( Forca) Bintulu president Hii Toh Him said the activities include traditiona­l food fest, multiracia­l cultural performanc­es, lion dance and singing contest.

“Starting from tonight ( yesterday), the people can patronise the various food stalls at the festival site where we have many types of traditiona­l food.

“I invite people from all walks of life to join us in many activities until the end of the festival.

“I believe through the festival, the people of various races and religious background can get to know each other better and enjoy the lantern festival together.

“At the same time, this festival can further promote our tourism industry and boost our local economic activities,” said Hii.

According to him, the festival is a manifestat­ion of the good partnershi­p between Forca, Bintulu Resident Office, and Bintulu Developmen­t Authority ( BDA) to make Bintulu a better place, thus contributi­ng to the growth of Sarawak and Malaysia.

Among those present at the opening ceremony were Pemanca Datuk Dr Francis Toh Chiew Peng, Bintulu Resident Muhamad Yakup Kari, BDA general manager Rodziah Morshidi, district police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili, and Naim deputy managing director Christina Wong.
