Tunku Putra School to stage ‘Fame Jr! – The Musical’
KUCHING: Tunku Putra School will stage ‘Fame Jr! – The Musical’ tomorrow (Sept 29) until Sunday (Oct 1) at 7.30pm nightly.
Students aged 10 to 17 will take part in the production.
A press statement said among the performers is Jansen Lau – a regular school production performer, playing the seasoned professional child actor, Nick Piazza.
Lau recently auditioned and gained a place at the coveted American Academy of Dramatic Art.
Fellow frequent performer Sharifa AfraArijah plays the irrefutable Miss Sherman.
Leading the team is Creative and Performing Arts head Angela Williams, who joined the school in May, taking on the challenge of directing, choreographing and producing the show.
“I first put ‘ Fame Jr!’ on as part of the Cultural Olympiad in preparation for the 2012 London Olympics, performed in a transformed sailing hanger,” said Williams, a teacher of 19 years from the United Kingdom.
“I loved this musical then, I still love it now. It’s fun and fast paced, and will give its audience a good level of spectacle with a fantastic cast to support.”
‘Fame Jr!’ features a high energy, contemporary pop score and a touching coming- of- age story.
It is set during the last years of New York City’s celebrated High School for the Performing Arts in the early 1980s.
Tickets are available from the school administration office or from Pei Sheng ( 016-2232108).
General admission tickets are RM50, while front row seats are RM100.
