Be like street fighters in order to succeed, Naroden tells entrepreneurs

-

LAWAS: Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais said entrepreneurs must have the grit and attitude of street fighters and business brains to succeed in their endeavours.

The Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur, Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Assistant Minister of ECommerce said they must also be willing to improve themselves and be progress-oriented.

He gave these words of advice when speaking at the closing ceremony of Food Processing Technology Course and Jerawara Entrepreneurs Programme 2017 at Lawas Indoor Stadium on Wednesday which was aimed at empowering locals to earn more income.

The assistant minister said the course was a platform to encourage more people to be involved in food processing and entrepreneurship.

Looking at the good response from women entrepreneurs to the programme, he said his ministry was ready to support enterprising individuals becoming beauticians in Lawas district. Out of the 105 participants, 90 per cent were women.

He said the Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development (MIED) was tasked with development of industries, including micro and cottage industries which mostly involved Bumiputera entrepreneurs.

“Shortlisted committed entrepreneurs are also given financial support through selected financial agencies to boost entrepreneurship development in the state,” he told the participants.

On e- commerce, he said this borderless economic system would have deep impact on the current paper-based transactions and payment system by cheques and cash.

Naroden added that with ecommerce, customers can get the products they desire faster, made possible by faster broadband speed which the government was working on.

He encouraged the people to tap into e- commerce as it provides enormous potential and opportunities to trade in the global market.

On the product collection centre for Lawas approved by the chief minister, he said it would be built next year, where local products would be collected, processed and packaged and marketed online through e-commerce platform.

Present at the function were Limbang Deputy Resident Selamat Jati Yanjah, MIED representative Charles Siaw, Lawas district officer Husaini Hakim and local dignitaries.
