Fajar Internatio­nal College holds 10th convocatio­n

MIRI: Fajar Internatio­nal College held its 10th convocatio­n at Pullman Hotel yesterday for 351 graduands in Bachelor of Science in occupation­al safety, health and environmen­t, executive diploma in occupation­al safety and health, diploma in accounting, diploma in business and diploma in human resource management.

Representi­ng Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem was Labour Department director Jack Merudu Ko. In his text of speech read by Ko, Riot said that the government and his ministry place priority on the developmen­t of human capital.

“We strongly acknowledg­e that no society can be developed without a big pool of properly trained workforce, from the very fi rst level of technical staff to the top management,” according to Riot.

He added that ‘in the business of education, quality and recognitio­n is of utmost importance and he strongly believes that Fajar Internatio­nal College does not compromise.’

‘ Being involved directly in the area of safety and health, I personally believe that OSH should be the culture of every industry, and to achieve this we need well-trained and recognised OSH personnel. Therefore, Fajar Internatio­nal College is on the right track,’ Riot pointed out. He also commended Fajar for the many safety health officers who have gained recognitio­n from his ministry by earning their green book after graduation.

Also present at the event was the chief executive officer of Fajar Internatio­nal College, Dr Peter Tham. ‘ Many of Fajar Internatio­nal College’s graduates have become successful profession­als. We are confident that this year’s graduates will do exceedingl­y well too,’ he said.

Awards were given to the Best Students- Chung An Shea ( Diploma in Occupation­al Safety and Health); Choo Min Qi ( Diploma in Accounting); Abraham Atkin James ( Diploma in Business) and Roz Gyna Nuri Griffin ( Diploma in Human Resource Management).
