SRI AMAN: A total of RM901,693 was disbursed to 609 participants involved in the Native Customary Rights (NCR) land development project under Winsome Pelita (Pantu) Sdn Bhd yesterday.

A total of 2,340.13 hectares of NCR land has been developed since 2005 for an oil palm plantation in Sungai Tenggang (1,354.42 hectares) and Krangas (985.71 hectares) in Pantu for which participants receive their incentives four times a year.

“This is why landowners who have idle lands should consider participating in such projects to receive incentives that can improve their socio-economy,” said Deputy Home Minister Dato

On hand to receive the incentives were Penghulu Johny Lumi of Sungai Tenggang and Ibrahim Betal of Kranggas.

Masir added that it was fortunate that the major companies were willing to invest millions of ringgit in the state’s oil palm sector.

He further added that millions have been allocated to the Land and Survey Department to carry out perimeter survey works to ascertain NCR over the land.

“It is also important for landowners to draft the agreement for the development of their land in the presence of a lawyer to avoid fraud.

“This year for the first time, Pelita Winsome will be giving out education incentives to the children of the project participants,” said Masir, who is also Sri Aman MP.

At the same event, the deputy minister handed over official certificates of participation to the 609 NCR landowners involved in the project, and education incentives to five students.

Also present were Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan, who presented RM10,000 from his Minor Rural Project grant to Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan Pantu.
