DBNA Miri to hold 40th anniversary dinner on Nov 4
MIRI: The Dayak Bidayuh National Association ( DBNA) Miri branch will celebrate its 40th anniversary by holding a special dinner this Nov 4.
According to DBNA Miri chairman Capt Bernard Idit, the dinner will take place at The Pavillion of Parkcity Everly Hotel here. Minister for Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong, who is also DBNA chief advisor, will officiate at the opening ceremony.
“Various programmes have been planned for the night and there will also be presentation of awards to outstanding Bidayuh students,” he said, adding that awards would also be presented to those who excelled in their UPSR, SPM and STPM examinations last year. There would also be a presentation of awards to Bidayuh individuals who received their diplomas, degrees or masters from any institution of higher learning this year.
“On that evening, we will also give recognition to previous DBNA Miri chairman as well as present life membership to our new members,” he added further.
Bernard said the dinner – themed ‘Proud Past, Progressive Future’ – would feature various Bidayuh cultural arts, especially the traditional dances, as well as performances by DBNA’s very own cultural troupe.
“We would like to invite all the Bidayuhs here, especially DBNA members to attend the dinner. It will be a good occasion for the Bidayuh community in Miri to get together and foster closer ties with one another,” he said.
Tickets for the dinner, priced at RM600 and RM1,000 for table of 10 guests, are currently on sale. Those who wish to purchase them can contact Bernard on 0164454854, Joseph Pitos (019- 8841457) or Michael Veno ( 013- 8278938).
