Show Luo wins Golden Bell award, but doesn’t mention girlfriend

TAIPEI: Taiwanese singer Show Luo who was named Best Host for a Variety Show during the 52nd Golden Bell Awards, has set tongues wagging by not mentioning his girlfriend in his speech.

In his thank-you speech, Show took time to express his appreciati­on for his mother, manager and elders.

Omitted in the list was his blogger girlfriend Grace Chow.

Show, 38, who had won an award at the ceremony for the first time in seven years, expressed surprise at his victory. Said Show: “I, Show Luo, did not let my fans down today and finally made you proud!”

Show also spoke about his poverty in childhood.

He has just spent RM1.38 million to buy his childhood home in Keelung.

During the same awards ceremony, the big winner was the Q series, launched by Q Place Creative Inc. and Taiwan Television Enterprise.

They won the awards for Best Television Series, Best Supporting Actress and Best Sound Effects, while romance series Love Storm bagged Best Newcomer and Best Actress.

A joint production of PTS, Singaporeh­eadquarter­ed Infocus Asia and HBO Asia, the six- episode The Teenage Psychic bagged two awards in the miniseries category, namely Best Supporting Actress and Best Miniseries. The drama series, filmed entirely in Taiwan, is HBO Asia’s first original Mandarin-language co-production.
