LKIM Sarawak latest to sign Corruption-Free Pledge

-

KUCHING: Thirty-three government departments and agencies as well as a sport association in the state have signed the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR).

The latest agency that signed the IBR to uphold integrity was the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) Sarawak.

“Today (yesterday) is the IBR signing with LKIM Sarawak. Everything went well and MACC ( Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission) Sarawak appreciates LKIM Sarawak for the pledge.

“To date, 33 departments and agencies have signed the IBR. FAS (Football Association of Sarawak) has also signed,” said state MACC director Datuk Badrul Shah Norman when approached by journalists at a leading hotel here yesterday.

Badrul declined to comment on other matters, saying: “I will only touch on pencegahan (prevention).”

In a separate interview, state LKIM director Kusuadi Sallih said he looked forward to having better welfare for fishermen when the national Budget 2018 is tabled on Oct 27.

He was reluctant to comment at first but said “We hope for better welfare of fishermen, that’s all” when pressed.

Asked if he would want to see more allocation for fishermen, Kusuadi replied: “That depends on the government.”

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to table Budget 2018 on Oct 27. Of late, he revealed that he would have some ‘good news’ for civil servants during the tabling of Budget 2018.
