-

KUCHING: Kuching District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai has confirmed that no report has been received by the police over the circulation of a new drug called ‘Strawberry Quick’ in Sarawak.

The new drug which became a trending topic on social media platforms yesterday has triggered the concerns of many parents of school children as the pills are “innocently” shaped like candy.

“We have not received any information of the drug ( Strawberry Quick) being sold or circulated in Sarawak,” said Abang Ahmad in a statement yesterday.

He also revealed that the article on the “Strawberry Quick” drug was originally written in English and translated into Bahasa Malaysia. The source of the article he said is also believed to be foreign and sourced from the worldwideweb. Abang Ahmad urged the people to not share any article or news that they have stumbled upon online without verifying the facts.

“This will avoid any uneasiness among the public especially parents of school children,” he added.

He also pointed out that a similar article was also circulating on various social media platforms in previous years which have riled up parents for no reason. Checks by the police and other authorities into the matter he said also revealed that the case was not true.
