Short course highlights ways for social media to boost digital marketing

-

KUCHING: Social media can engage people and lead them to visiting other websites, which can then capture consumers.

This was highlighted by ClickAcademy Asia social media strategist Richard Wong during the short course on social media marketing, conducted at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus here recently.

His session taught the participants the power and potential of followers on social media, providing them with tools on how to create ‘ followings’.

“Although people use Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, how can you create interesting content from a business perspective? Onestop digital marketing agencies already exist, and Sarawakians are prepared and willing to be trained in this field.

“By showing examples and case studies of what works and what doesn’t, we can see what’s possible and inspire people to be creative,” said Richard.

The course was part of a suite of training that Swinburne Sarawak is offering in the field of digital media marketing together with its partner ClickAcademy Asia, which has extensive experience in training and coaching in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

According to Swinburne Sarawak ‘Future Projects’ director Assoc Prof Wallace Wong, the chief minister wants a digital economy for Sarawak, and lots of organisations are working towards it.

“We are already a part of it through our research programme. Being an international educational institution, we have the knowledge on best social media practices, especially as we’ve just developed it as a major/minor option for our undergraduates.

“By partnering up with likeminded organisations like ClickAcademy, we can also offer the same skills and tools to working professionals,” said Wallace.
