SRI AMAN: Village Security and Development Committees (JKKKs) here have been reminded to prepare their respective village profile as reference for members and relevant government agencies.

Assistant Minister of Community Wellbeing Datuk Francis Hollis explained that the village profile should be sent to the Resident and District Office.

“The village profile is needed not only by the Resident and District Offices but also other agencies such as the Community Development Department ( Kemas) to provide crucial information,” he said.

“As such, we want to remind village and longhouse chieftains as well as JKKK chairpersons the need for cooperation, to sit down and discuss in order to complete this documents,” he added.

Harden, who is also Simanggang assemblyman, said this at the Leaders with Community gathering organised by Rumah Ringgit Bayang JKKK, Kampung Ibol Undop Sri Aman, Bomba, Kemas and Welfare Department in Sri Aman on Thursday.

Each community leader, Harden emphasised, must be aware of their responsibilities

“The community leaders such as Temenggong, Pemanca, Penghulu, Tuai Rumah and others must go down to the ground with state leaders and hold regular discussions with the community in their areas as well,” he said.

Harden said that as leaders they must work in harmony to implement government policies and programmes for the development of their longhouses.

“We do not want government projects or programmes for a longhouse to be halted or withdrawn because the villagers do not cooperate among themselves or with their leaders.

“As leaders, we must sacrifice our time to ensure plannings can be successfully executed,” he added while urging the residents from longhouses across the state to remain united and not be divided.

“We do not want our people to be divided due to different political ideologies,” he continued.

Harden stressed that the people must strengthen their unity and give unwavering support to the government so that it will be easier for development to be brought and implemented in their areas.

“We do not want our longhouses to be divided to two or even three and creating many chieftains where no one will gain anything from in the end,” he advised.

“As such, we must remain united, and don’t fight among ourselves. Due to our own ego and fighting among ourselves will only put us and the community in a disadvantageous position,” he emphasised.

Harden announced a RM5,000 grant to Rumah Ringgit Bayang JKKK to finance its annual activities.
