MIRI: A total of 45,000 litres of diesel worth RM350,000 were seized during an operation carried out on a premises in Permyjaya here by the General Operations Force ( GOF) recently.

In a statement yesterday, GOF Battalion 12 commanding officer Supt Tan Hiap Seng said the operation, codenamed ‘Ops Libas’, took place on Oct 6 on a premises suspected of storing diesel fuel without any valid permit.

“We had been gathering intelligence on the premises as we suspected that it was being used to store diesel without valid permit.

“During the ambush, we believe that the caretaker of the premises had escaped via the back door upon realising our presence,” he said, adding that the 9pm raid was led by ASP Ho Chee Kuan.

Tan said an inspection on the premises found a tanker truck containing 20,000 litres of diesel, as well as a tank filled with another 25,000 litres of the fuel.

When asked, he said the premises had been operating in the area for over a month, and is suspected of selling diesel to oil palm estates here and the surrounding areas.

The case has been handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism for further investigation.
