114 KPDNKK Sarawak staff sign corruption-free pledge

KUCHING: The state office of Domestic Trade, Cooperativ­es and Consumeris­m Ministry ( KPDNKK) is the latest among government­al organisati­ons to sign the Malaysian AntiCorrup­tion Commission (MACC)’s Corruption-Free Pledge ( IBR).

A total of 114 ministry personnel, led by KPDNKK Sarawak deputy director Abd Hafidz A Rahim, signed the pledge documents and later took part in the oath-taking ceremony here yesterday.

According to Abd Hafidz, the undertakin­g by KPDNKK Sarawak staff signifies their ongoing commitment in upholding high- standard administra­tion and combating any form of corruption within the organisati­on.

Moreover, he assured all that KPDNKK Sarawak would always practise ‘zero tolerance’ on corruption and support MACC’s anti- corruption programmes.

“We will work closely with the MACC on measures to avoid misconduct and corruption within the department.”

Meanwhile, MACC Sarawak deputy director Zulhairy Zaidel who was also present at the ceremony, called upon all members of the civil service to always uphold their integrity while dischargin­g their duties and most importantl­y, to always say no to corruption.

“Today’s ceremony can be seen as the manifestat­ion of KPDNKK’s support and commitment in eradicatin­g corruption.”

According to Zulhairy, the IBR is an initiative that emphasises voluntary integrity pledges made by heads of department­s and their staff members, in their personal capacity.

In addition to the IBR oathtaking and signing ceremony, MACC Sarawak also conducted a membership-drive campaign for the ‘ Sahabat Gerakan Revolusi Anti-Rasuah’ (Gerah) yesterday.
