‘Always respect elders, especially parents’
MARUDI: The spirit of respecting elders, especially parents, should always be preserved and practised, reminded State Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Datuk Gerawat Gala.
The Mulu assemblyman said without them “we are not here today”.
“So we should always respect senior citizens and appreciate them for what they had done during their younger days,” he advised when speaking at the Senior Citizens Dinner organised by Baram Hockien Association which was held at Baram Civic Centre here recently.
On another matter, Gerawat called on the Chinese who had moved away from Marudi to come back to the town to help develop it by doing business or investing.

He also announced a similar grant of RM10,000 from Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, the Marudi assemblyman and Assistant Minister of Local Government, for the association.
Meanwhile, the two oldest senior citizens attending the event received cash contribution from the association which was presented by Pemanca Chong Chin Hui and his wife.
