Two team up to destroy a hornets’ nest on a tree branch
SARIKEI: Staff of Sarawak Energy Bhd and Fire and Rescue Services Department ( Bomba) teamed up in a special operation to destroy a hornets’ nest lodged on a tree branch at Green Road here Wednesday night.
Bomba dispatched a team of firemen including two dressed in protective gear to lead the operation, while SEB provided an aerial lift truck to enable them to reach the hornets’ nest about 20 feet above the ground.
To ensure no damage done to nearby electricity cables, they used insect sprayer instead of flames to destroy the hornets colony, one of the firemen said. The operation to ensure the safety of nearby residents started at 7pm and was completed in less than 10 minutes.
