One-day Ban­dong Walk Mini Car­ni­val on Oct 21 to fea­ture lo­cal tal­ents

SIBU: The one- day Ban­dong Walk Mini Car­ni­val 2017 on Oct 21 will pa­rade colour­ful and fun­filled ac­tiv­i­ties with Pocket Tal­ent Show and Chil­dren Fash­ion Show com­pe­ti­tions as the high­lights.

Sibu Ban­dong Com­mu­nity De­vel­op­ment As­so­ci­a­tion ( PPKB Sibu) is or­gan­is­ing the event to pro­mote Ban­dong Walk.

The car­ni­val, from 6.30am till 11.30pm, will be held at Ban­dong Walk in Ban­dong Road here.

The of­fi­cial open­ing cer­e­mony to be held in the evening will be of­fi­ci­ated by As­sis­tant Min­is­ter of Ed­u­ca­tion and Tech­no­log­i­cal Re­search Dr An­nuar Ra­paee, who is also As­sis­tant Min­is­ter of Hous­ing and Pub­lic Health.

PPKB Sibu chair­man and car­ni­val or­gan­is­ing chair­man Abang Morni Dato Sri Abang Zain­ud­din told a press con­fer­ence yes­ter­day that the Pocket Tal­ent Show com­pe­ti­tion is open to all who are at least 16 years old.

There are five cat­e­gories, namely ‘Poco-Poco’ dance, Pop ‘Yeh-Yeh’, Zapin dance, mod­ern dance (such as Shuffle/K-pop and oth­ers) and cre­ative mu­sic (re­cy­cle mu­si­cal in­stru­ments).

Each team must have eight to 10 mem­bers with a mix of males and fe­males. En­try is free of charge. The clos­ing date is Oct 17.

The cham­pion team gets RM1,000 while the first run­nerup bags RM700 and the sec­ond runner-up, RM500.

Pho­tog­ra­phy en­thu­si­asts are en­cour­aged to take pho­to­graphs of the hap­pen­ings dur­ing the car­ni­val for a pho­tog­ra­phy com­pe­ti­tion.

En­try forms may be ob­tained at Nangka Ser­vice Cen­tre in Ban­dong Road.

The first prize is RM500 while it is RM300 for the sec­ond prize and RM200 for the third.

En­tries must reach the Ban­dong Walk Mini Car­ni­val 2017 Pho­tog­ra­phy Com­pe­ti­tion Sec­re­tar­iat at 9G, Ban­dong Road by noon on Oct 30 at the lat­est.

Rules and reg­u­la­tions for the Pocket Tal­ent Show and pho­tog­ra­phy com­pe­ti­tion may be ob­tained from ‘Ban­dong Walk Sibu’ Face­book page.

Ac­cord­ing to Abang Morni, the car­ni­val will be­gin with a Zumba dance at 6.30am.

There are also booths sell­ing prod­ucts, health screen­ing, colour­ing com­pe­ti­tion ( Tadika Ke­mas), cook­ing com­pe­ti­tion, shar­ing of choco­late moist cake by Dr Chef in the morn­ing.

The sec­ond part of the pro­gramme will be­gin at 2pm with a re­hearsal for Pocket Tal­ent Show and Chil­dren Fash­ion Show, and so on.

In the evening, the events in­clude the Bi­cy­cle Team Night Ride by Sri Re­jang Cy­cling Club, Pocket Tal­ent Show, Chil­dren Fash­ion Show, and the prize-giv­ing.
