One-day Bandong Walk Mini Carnival on Oct 21 to feature local talents
SIBU: The one- day Bandong Walk Mini Carnival 2017 on Oct 21 will parade colourful and funfilled activities with Pocket Talent Show and Children Fashion Show competitions as the highlights.
Sibu Bandong Community Development Association ( PPKB Sibu) is organising the event to promote Bandong Walk.
The carnival, from 6.30am till 11.30pm, will be held at Bandong Walk in Bandong Road here.
The official opening ceremony to be held in the evening will be officiated by Assistant Minister of Education and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee, who is also Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health.
PPKB Sibu chairman and carnival organising chairman Abang Morni Dato Sri Abang Zainuddin told a press conference yesterday that the Pocket Talent Show competition is open to all who are at least 16 years old.
There are five categories, namely ‘Poco-Poco’ dance, Pop ‘Yeh-Yeh’, Zapin dance, modern dance (such as Shuffle/K-pop and others) and creative music (recycle musical instruments).
Each team must have eight to 10 members with a mix of males and females. Entry is free of charge. The closing date is Oct 17.
The champion team gets RM1,000 while the first runnerup bags RM700 and the second runner-up, RM500.

Photography enthusiasts are encouraged to take photographs of the happenings during the carnival for a photography competition.
Entry forms may be obtained at Nangka Service Centre in Bandong Road.
The first prize is RM500 while it is RM300 for the second prize and RM200 for the third.
Entries must reach the Bandong Walk Mini Carnival 2017 Photography Competition Secretariat at 9G, Bandong Road by noon on Oct 30 at the latest.

According to Abang Morni, the carnival will begin with a Zumba dance at 6.30am.
There are also booths selling products, health screening, colouring competition ( Tadika Kemas), cooking competition, sharing of chocolate moist cake by Dr Chef in the morning.
The second part of the programme will begin at 2pm with a rehearsal for Pocket Talent Show and Children Fashion Show, and so on.
In the evening, the events include the Bicycle Team Night Ride by Sri Rejang Cycling Club, Pocket Talent Show, Children Fashion Show, and the prize-giving.
