Permata Insan IAP inaugural meeting discusses future direction

NILAI: The Permata Insan Internatio­nal Advisory Panel ( IAP) inaugural meeting was held yesterday to discuss issues regarding its education philosophy, curriculum and internatio­nalisation strategy.

Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia ( USIM) vice- chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Musa Ahmad said the meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who is also Permata patron, comprised local and internatio­nal scholars including Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Senior Consultant in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Prof Emerita Dr Sharifah Hapsah Syed Hasan Shahabudin.

Internatio­nal panel members included Dr Basil Mustafa from the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and Kyoto University Japan’s Professor Kosugi Yasushi.

“Among other issues discussed were the way to address current challenges faced by the education sector and to explore the strategic links between Permata Insan and leading educationa­l institutio­ns and universiti­es abroad,” said Musa, who is also one of the panel members, to reporters after attending the meeting held at Permata Insan College in USIM here, yesterday. — Bernama
