Unregistered drones banned in Thailand

-

BANGKOK: The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission ( NBTC) has ordered that all drones must be registered or drone owners face up to five years in prison and a 100,000- baht fine, Thai News Agency ( TNA) reported.

NBTC secretary- general Takorn Tantasith said drone owners must register their devices within 90 days after the order was issued Wednesday.

Drone flying is popular in the country but so far, only 350 drones have been registered with the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).

Drone owners can register their devices at the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand ( CAAT) and the NBTC headquarters and its 21 provincial offices as well as police stations nationwide.

To register drones, owners must bring copies of their identification cards, pictures of drones and provide details of serial numbers of their devices.
