AirAsia named Malaysia’s Best Company in IR for middle cap category

SEPANG: AirAsia Bhd ( AirAsia) has been named Malaysia’s Best Company for Investor Relations ( IR) this year.

AirAsia’s chief executive officer Aireen Omar received the award on behalf of the airline from Bursa Malaysia CEO Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan at the Malaysia Investor Relations Associatio­n ( MIRA) Awards 2017 ceremony at Sime Darby Convent ion Centre in Kuala Lumpur recently.

In a press statement, the airline said it also won the Best IR website award, which was presented to the airline’s group head of Corporate Developmen­t, Elina Effendi, who previously headed the airline’s IR team.

Aireen said, “This is the result of the solid teamwork that we have fostered within AirAsia. We have always been transparen­t with our investors and we will continue to engage positively with them in the future.

“Winning the Best IR website is also significan­t to us as it is in line with our vision to be a truly digital airline. We will also continue to strive towards building value and maximising returns to our shareholde­rs, and push the boundaries in all aspects of AirAsia.”

AirAsia and its long haul af f i l iate, AirAsia X also won two individual awards; the Best Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for IR which was awarded to AirAsia CFO How Kim Lian and Best Investor Relations Profession­al ( Mid Cap) garnered by AirAsia X I nve s t o r Re l at ions manager, Hani f Idrose Mohamed.

How said, “I’m humbled by this recognitio­n from the investment community. It is an honour to be nominated for this category, and a pleasant surprise to win this award. Well done AirAsia and great job to the team. A truly Allstars spirit and achievemen­t.”

Hanif said, “It’s an honour for me to receive this award. We totally didn’t expect to win this award.

“It shows that AirAsia has a strong team. The hard work is not solely mine but as One AirAsia IR team which embodies its vision to prov ide cons i s t ent communi c at ion to our stakeholde­rs.”

The award is aimed at recognisin­g best IR practices by IR profession­als and publiclist­ed companies on Bursa Malaysia.
