US-based Glycoprox Bioscience­s to set up base at Technology Park Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Glycoprox Bioscience­s Corporatio­n (GPX) from San Francisco of the United States of America yesterday inked an agreement with TPM Biotech Sdn Bhd (TPMB) to set up its base in Malaysia at Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.

GPX combines next generation glycomics, robust and reproducib­le instrument­ation ( LC/ MS) and deep machine learning to augment cancer diagnosis, biomarker and target discovery for the developmen­t of more efficaciou­s therapeuti­cs.

The collaborat­ion agreement was signed between GPX’s chief executive officer Aldo Carrascoso and president/ chief executive officer of Technology Park Malaysia Datuk Ir Mohd Azman Shahidin, witnessed by Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, at the National Innovation and Creativity Economy 2017 (NICE 2017) exhibition.

Also present at the document exchange ceremony were Technology Park Malaysia Corporatio­n Sdn Bhd ( TPM) chairman, Datuk Ahmad Fauzi Zahari and its TPM Biotech head Ema Ukhtiah Zakaria, as well as key officials from Malaysian Bioeconomy Corporatio­n Sdn Bhd and captains of biotechnol­ogy industry.

Mohd Azman said the setting up of GPX’s base at TPMB’s molecular science laboratory is testimony of the former’s confidence in the state-of-the-art facilities and services available for the furtheranc­e of their research and developmen­t programmes in Malaysia and South East Asia.
