200 big bikers kick off KIBW with convoy ride to Siniawan

KUCHING: The 3- day Kuching Internatio­nal Bike Week ( KIBW) started yesterday kicked off with a convoy ride of big bikers from CityONE Megamall to Siniawan, Bau.

The KIBW Cowboy Ride convoy was participat­ed by some 200 bikers from Sarawak, Sabah, Peninsular Malaysia, Brunei, UK and Australia. The convoy was escorted by the police and marshals from GS Sarawak.

The bikers were f lagged off by Malaysian motorsport icon Tunku Dato Hassan Tunku Mohamad.

Prior to that, visitors were wowed by renowned s tunt rider Aaron Twite who joined the convoy. He is expected to perform stunts for the public at 12pm, 4pm and 6pm today, and at 12pm, 3pm and 6pm tomorrow.

Yesterday’s events included an opening concert and introducti­on of the Miss KIBW participan­ts.

Today, there wil l be a City Ride from Kuching South City Counci l to Kuching Nor th City Commission with 6 0 0 participan­ts expected. Other activities are Bomba Safety Demo, Motor cycl e Sa f e ty Clinic, Motorcycle Accident First Aid Demo, Preliminar­y rounds of Miss KIBW and Gala Dinner.

The activities for tomorrow include a Motorcycle Safety Clinic, finals for Motogym, Mr KIBW, Battle of the bands, Miss KIBW, prize- giving and closing c eremony with f i reworks display.

This is the second edition of the KIBW which is held once every two years.
