Miro hopes ‘cowboy’ ride promotes Siniawan

BAU: More than 200 participan­ts of Kuching Internatio­nal Bike Week ( KIBW) took part in the cowboy ride to Siniawan town yesterday.

Their presence at Siniawan was welcomed by Serumbu assemblyma­n Miro Simuh who also hosted a hi-tea reception for the riders.

In his speech, Miro hoped they can promote Siniawan as a tourism attraction. Siniawan is about 21km from Kuching.

“I hope this cowboy ride programme can help us promote this small town which is famously known as cowboy town.

“Some efforts have been made to revive the culture and tradition here, also the night market that is held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We hope to attract more visitors to come. At the same time, it will help to boost the economy of the locals and our tourism industry,” said Miro.

Commending the effort made by Borneo Island Big Bikers( BIBB) and Iron Tiger Bikers Club Kuching for initiating the event,

he told the riders, who are not only locals but from other states and country, to spend some time to enjoy other tourist attraction­s here.

“Stay safe on the road and help us promote our local industry,” he said.

The bikers were entertaine­d by Onstring, a local cowboy band.

Hundreds of bikers from around Borneo as well as Australia, New Zealand and the United States are here for Kuching Internatio­nal Bike Week (KIBW) held at CityONE Megamall until tomorrow.

Also present was BIBB president Ramlee Tuah and vice-president Bronnie Marshal l Benedict Poris.
