Lo and Yap chided for blaming KWB for sloppy work done
KUCHING: Abdul Aziz Isa, the special assistant to Pakatan Harapan Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, is urging Padawan Municipal Council ( MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang and Councillor Wilfred Yap to stop acting like Llyod and Harry in ‘ Dumb and Dumber’ movie for blaming Kuching Water Board ( KWB) for the sloppy jobs done at Jalan Semeba.
He said he was dumbfounded by the recent statement made by Lo, who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman, for blaming KWB for the sloppy work done at Jalan Semeba, as reported in the news recently.
“After receiving complaints from the residents of Semeba Park on Sept 28, I immediately went there to check. I found that KWB did not restore the public utilities and infrastructure after completing the piping work. They ( KWB) did not resurface the roads properly. Piles of earth near residential areas were not cleared and the main road was partially damaged due to the piping work,” he said in a statement received here yesterday.
The residents, he added, had lodged several complaints to MPP and KWB, but were all ignored.
“This has occurred not once but many times. Maybe due to Lo’s heavy workload as MPP chairman, assemblyman and State Public Account Committee member, he has no time to attend to public complaints.
“Yap, who is also SUPP’s Public Complaint Bureau chief, worsens the situation. He seems to be always absent on the ground. Both their names were tagged in the residents’ official Facebook page but they refrained from replying to the residents’ postings and comments,” he said.
Abdul Aziz added that he had brought the matter to the relevant authorities, which then got both Lo and Yap to quickly react by going to the ground.
“But rather than solving the issue, they put the blame on KWB which I find laughable,” he said.
“I made a quick check on the official website of KWB and was shocked to find out that both Lo and Yap are currently sitting on its Board of Directors,” he added.
“It is hilarious to know that these two politicians acted like imbeciles similar to Llyod Christmas and Harry Dunne in ‘Dumb and Dumber’ movie. They thought that by putting the blame on KWB, they could get away with it. Nevertheless, their acting was a total failure.”
As BoD members of KWB, Abdul Aziz said both Lo and Yap should be able to perform their public duties well.
“As MPP chairman, Batu Kitang assemblyman and member of KWB BoD, Lo is legally bound to carry out his duty according to the law. Why put the blame on KWB when he is also a member of its BoD,” he added.
Abdul Aziz thus urged both Lo and Yap to solve the issue once and for all and stop playing ‘ taichi’ by putting the blame on others when they should know it was their own failure to perform their public duty.
“Resurfacing the whole stretch of road along Jalan Semeba is necessary for the convenience of the residents. Showing sincerity in serving the public is very much needed rather than being arrogant and egoistic,” he added.
