Inno Run/Ride to kick off Public Service Innovation Week on Oct 15

KUCHING: The state-level Public Service Innovation Week will take place in Kuching, Kota Samarahan, Sarikei and Miri from Oct 15 to 20.

According to a press statement yesterday, various programmes were organised in close collaborat­ion with the federal Malaysian Administra­tive Modernisat­ion and Management Planning Unit ( Mampu), and the State Service Modernisat­ion Unit, Chief Minister’s Department throughout Innovation Week.

According to Mampu’s director Dr Dusit Jaul this year’s programme is similar to previous years’ with various activities and programme slots open to civil servants, private sector workers, entreprene­urs and the public.

Public Service Innovation Week has five major slots: health, economic, environmen­tal social and innovative convention­s and state-level Public Service Innovation Week closing ceremony.

Innovation Week will start with Sarawak Inno Run / Ride & National Ride Day on Oct 15 at the Sultan Iskandar Building Ground, Simpang Tiga, Kuching.

Running and biking events are divided into two categories namely the 5km InnoRun / Walk event and 30km HSN Fun Ride.

This event which is included in this year’s National Sports Day calendar will be officiated by State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani and attended by Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan and Sarawak Federal Secretary Dato Mansor Man.

The Public Service Innovation Week programme will continue with the Innovation Forum on Oct 16 at the State Legislativ­e Assembly, Petra Jaya,Kuching.

A total of 300 participan­ts from the public and private sectors as well as entreprene­urs will be involved in this half- day programme.

The forum will be led by the Malaysian Productivi­ty Corporatio­n ( MPC) and conducted by Rector of Universiti Teknologi Mara ( UiTM) Sarawak, Professor Dato Dr Jamil Hamali who is also the moderator, accompanie­d by three panel members, namely managing director of Benithem Sdn Bhd, Teo Beng Huat, DT Leadership Sdn Bhd director and executive director Khairul Anwar Kamarudin and chief informatio­n officer from Sarawak Informatio­n System Sdn Bhd ( SAINS) Anderson Tiong Ing Heng.

The Forum themed ‘Innovation In Digital Economy’ will be officiated by State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani.

The Environmen­tal Slot will take place at Sarikei on Oct 1617.

The Inno Waste programme will be conducted by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing supported by local government councils throughout the state.

The objective of the programme is to raise awareness on the importance of safeguardi­ng the environmen­t, cultivatin­g love for the environmen­t, creating a sense of understand­ing between the public, private and local communitie­s, enhancing interactio­n among the community through social and recreation­al activities and promoting the interest of the community in producing innovative products through recycling.

A ceremony will be held at Suarah Hall from 2 to 5pm on Oct 16 and 8am to 1pm that day to judge the best exhibits from participan­ts. Deputy Local Government Minister Datu Dr Caller Catcher is expected to officiate at this event.

A total of 180 participan­ts from 45 teams will take part in Inno Youth Adventure Programme which will involve state and federal civil servants as well as students from local universiti­es.

The objective is to promote creativity and innovation among participan­ts using limited material resources within the prescribed time.

The competitio­n is divided into Inno Kreatif- creativity and group engagement activities in the challenge of creative solutions, Treasure Hunt activities combining ‘cryptic’ and photobased solutions, Amazing Racetelevi­sion reality show where teams race with other teams, Innovation Questions including innovation questions, innovation challenges, Inno- csr part of the group assignment form for CSR activities.
