Gaum hands over info on RM1.5 bln graft case to MACC
PUTRAJAYA: Right wing movement Gerakan Akar Umbi Umno Malaysia ( GAUM) yesterday handed over documents related to the RM1.5 billion siphoning case in Sabah to the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission.
Its chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar claimed that the documents contained new information relating to the case.
“I cannot reveal what the contents are but am ready to be called up at anytime to explain,” he told reporters after handing over the documents to the MACC headquarters here.

The MACC is investigating alleged siphoning of funds reported to amount to RM1.5 billion from allocations to the Rural and Regional Development Ministry for more than 70 rural development projects in Sabah.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad has been reported as saying that the commission had called 45 people regarding the case including seven who were remanded to assist investigations.
The siphoning was alleged to have happened when Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was the Minister of Rural and Regional Developlment.
Mohd Shafie has since left the government and founded opposition party Parti Warisan Sabah. — Bernama
