Diabetes Malaysia, Miri to hold ‘Woman and Diabetes’ day

MIRI: Diabetes Malaysia, Miri Branch will be holding a threeday ‘Women and Diabetes’ event in conjunctio­n with World Diabetes Day from Nov 14-17 at Bintang Megamall here from 10am on 10pm.

Its chairwoman, Ting Chiew Moi, told a press conference on Thursday (Oct 12), this year various programmes have been organised to focus on women and their health.

“The theme aims to send the message to women, that their future and health lies in the choices they make and that making the right choice will lead to a good life,” she said.

Ting said that there will be aerobic exercise, dance performanc­e, singing as well as health and safety talk on diabetes for members of the public.

“There will also be exhibition and booths displaying useful informatio­n on diabetes to educate members of the public.”

Children from the local singing studios as well as local songstress Howe Chun Fai, and Boon Wei Wei from Kuala Lumpur will be entertaini­ng the audience during this event.

“We would like to express our gratitude to our sponsors – Julie’s, Liansin Trading Sdn Bhd., Meritz Hotel Miri, T-Home Studio, Broadway Studio, Miri Hospital and Miri Fire and Rescue Department for their support,” Ting added.

She encouraged members of the public to take this opportunit­y to learn more about diabetes and the precaution­ary measures against the disease.

The press conference was also attended by Diabetes Malaysia Miri branch secretary Teo Kee Hoe, Dato’ Dr. Fam Tem Lom representi­ng Miri Hospital, Bintang Megamall event manager Allen Wong, Merit Hotel Miri General Manager John Teo, representa­tive of Miri Fire and Rescue Department Supt Law Poh Kiong as well as members of the organising committe.
