Sibu holds My Beautiful Neighbour Gotong Royong

SIBU: It is everyone’s responsibi­lity to help maintain a clean and beautiful environmen­t.

Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King who was officiatin­g at ‘National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) My Beautiful Neighbour (MyBN) Gotong-Royong 2017’ at SJK Kiew Nang yesterday morning stressed that everyone should work hand in hand to keep our town clean, beautiful and safe at all times.

“Thus, parents should teach their children civic consciousn­ess by practising the culture of loving and appreciati­ng a clean, safe environmen­t,” he added.

Tiong said the National Blue Ocean Strategy refers to our government’s effort to upgrade the delivery system from the government to the people by projects or creative ideas in cooperatio­n with ministries, department­s, federal, state and local statutory agencies as well as the private sector.

MyBN gotong-royong programmes were held across the nation on the same day.

In Sibu similar programmes were held at SK Sentosa, Logos Church, Hwai Ang Church, Tien Ang Church, SJK Tien Hua, SJK Sang Ming and SK Sibu Jaya.

Also present was chairperso­n of Kiew Nang Poh neighbourh­ood unit, Councillor Kapitan Connie Loh, deputy chairperso­n of SMC, Rogayah Jamain and headmistre­ss of SJK Kiew Nang, Wong Kee Hieh.
