Work together to make Miri clean, beautiful and liveable — Yii

MIRI: It is important that the people here work closely together, like in gotongroyo­ng (work party), in order to transform Miri into a clean, beautiful and liveable Resort City.

Programmes such as ‘My Beautiful Neighbourh­ood’ (MyBN) is a great avenue for the people, Mirians in particular, to contribute their strength and ideas to beautify their neighbourh­oods, said Miri City Council mayor Adam Yii.

“MyBN is a significan­t programme simultaneo­usly held throughout the country.

“The members consist of various government department­s and agencies, Resident Committees and local communitie­s.

“All organisati­ons and individual­s have to put in efforts, time and resources with the minimum of expenses to hold the MyBN programme,” said Yii when declaring open the National Blue Ocean Strategy My Beautiful Neighbourh­ood (MyBN) 2017 programme at Kampung Lereng Bukit here yesterday.

The purpose of the MyBN programme is to transform unmanaged areas into safe, clean and beautiful environmen­ts.

It also serves to give locals a sense of love for their neighbourh­oods.

Yii said the MyBN Gotong Royong programme received special government allocation from the Implementa­tion Coordinati­on Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department.

“It involves 98 parliament­ary constituen­cies nationwide with an allocation of RM3 million each.

“The National Blue Ocean Strategy MyBN was launched nationwide simultaneo­usly yesterday.

Here, apart from Kampung Lereng Bukit, the programme was also held at several other locations including Ocean Park, Pujut Tanjung Batu 3, Piasau Garden Park, Hilltop and Tudan (Phase 5).
