MANAGEMENT and Science University (MSU) students of Creative Video and Photography and of Graphic Design from Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering were among the top winners of the 2017 Vision Petron National Student Art Competition announced in Kuala Lumpur recently.
Bagging the top prizes in the Photography category for their entries titled ‘Sovereignty’ and ‘Virtual Reality of Skateboarding’ are Praveen KR Prushothamman and Mohamad Zulhizami Mohd Ariffin. One consolation prize in this category went to Mohan Shree Kanan for his ‘Enguinitys of Youth’, whilst ‘Anak Malaysia’ by Nurul Arisha Abdul Halim earned her a place on the Finalists list.
In the Videography category, also making the final cut is ‘My Youth’ by Muhammad Afiq Rusdy and Mohd Amiruldin Adzhar. Joning them is ‘Still Young’, produced by Muhammad Afiq Rusdy with Muhammad Fitri Mohd Amin and Muhammad Abidin Mokhtar.
The Vision Petron National Student Art Competition offers three top prizes and three consolation prizes across three categories. Its 2017 edition attracted more than a thousand participations from 20 institutions of higher education nationwide.
Against its ‘Rediscovering Ingenuity of Youth’ theme this year, the art competition seeks to channel youthful ingenuity into social betterment, envisioning the inspiration, creativity, and inventiveness behind local youth artistry as instruments of change promoting national unity and identity. It seems a vision winningly accomplished, judging from the entries.
