Registrati­on for ‘Run4U’ charity event extended to Oct 31

SIBU: The closing date for the ‘ Run 4 U’, which is jointly organised by the Lions Club of Sibu City and Medan Unicity Sibu, has been extended to October 31.

According to the President of Lions Club of Sibu City Vivian Ngu, the closing date was extended to give more time for those interested to join and register themselves.

“Earlier on, the closing date was on October 15. Thus, we hope more people will register for the run which aims to raise funds for the needy group of people such as Destiny For Children Associatio­n Sibu,” she said.

Vivian was speaking to reporters when met at Sarawak Life Care Society Sibu Branch premises here, recently.

Destiny For Children Associatio­n Sibu rents a section of the premises to house a class for children from the associatio­n.

“At present, we have 500 participan­ts who have registered themselves for the event. We hope more participan­ts will register for the charity run which aims to help the less fortunate group in our society.

“We are targeting 1,000 participan­ts for the event,” she added.

The ‘ Run 4 U’ charity event which will be held on November 26 at 6.30am, aims to raise a total of RM50,000.

Medan Mall marketing executive Hwong Yew Yiing and president of Destiny For Children Associatio­n Sibu Chris Tang were also present.

Vivian said the ‘early bird’ registrati­on fee, which expired on September 15, has also been extended to October 31.

“However, those interested are required to register in a group of minimum 10 participan­ts. The registrati­on fee for 5km is RM50 and 9km is RM70,” she added.

Runners will each receive a unique limited edition souvenir once they successful­ly complete their run.
