CanHOPE holds grooming workshop for breast cancer patients, survivors

-

MIRI: CanHOPE East Malaysia recently held its monthly Cancer Support Group activity, ‘Grooming Workshop – Looking Good, Feel Good’, for breast cancer patients, survivors and caregivers in conjunction with Cancer Awareness month.

“We always believe women deserve to look and feel good. Even though they may face certain challenges in their life, such as sickness, it should not be a reason that stops them from grooming themselves properly,” said CanHOPE area manager Connie Tan.

The grooming workshop, she revealed, aimed to improve self- esteem through knowledge and a practical approach to appearance-related side effects to make a difference in patients’ and survivors’ physical changes and make them look good both during and after cancer treatments.

The workshop, which was officiated by SUPP Central Women chairperson Datin Jennifer William, saw the attendance of dozens of participants.

The one- day workshop was conducted by Carolyn Leong, who is a certified beautician, make-up artist and image consultant with over 15 years of experience.

During the workshop, Leong demonstrated the use of colours to make her clients look special for all occasions, achieving a beautiful and natural look with mild make-up application.

CanHOPE is a non-profit cancer counselling and support service provided by Parkway Cancer Centre Singapore.
