Alibaba e-commerce workshop on Oct 28

-

SIBU: An Alibaba e- commerce workshop will be held at University College of Technology Sarawak ( UCTS) on Oct 28 under the First Sibu Plan ( RS1) meted out by UPP Sibu Community Development Board.

Board chairman Dato Andrew Wong said the talk is divided into two sessions: the first session in Mandarin for small and medium entrepreneurs ( SMEs) from 9am to 12.30pm, and the second session in English for young entrepreneurs and students from 2pm to 4.30pm.

Wong told a press conference on Tuesday that the talk is important as the first step in the implementation of e- commerce in RS1. He said he has invited Eason Liu, who is manager of Alibaba. com and Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation. Liu is an experienced e-commerce marketer who has helped various brands expand into the global market.

“What is more important is local entrepreneurs who want to know about e-commerce development in Sibu. We encourage them to come as our Minister of International Trade and E- Commerce Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh will be there.

“There will be a question- andanswer session with the minister. We have gathered some important questions for the minister to answer,” Wong said.

The entire event will be livestreamed in RS1’s Facebook page since many people in Sarikei and Bintangor are interested in e- commerce. The public can access the Facebook page by typing RS1.

According to Wong, each session can accommodate 430 persons at most due to limited seating capacity.

Admission is on a first come, first served basis. To register, call the RS1 office (084-252433) or Ivien ( 016-7259764).
