Family near Desa Wira receives aid from Hope Place

-

KUCHING: A family living near Taman Desa Wira here received foodstuff from charity non- governmental organisation ( NGO), Hope Place Kuching recently.

Magdline Inche, 42, is a cleaner earning RM600 every month to support her family. Her husband has been suffering heart problems since 2015 and is not able to work.

The couple has two schoolgoing children.

At the moment, Magdline is the sole breadwinner.

“Of the RM600, RM120 would be set aside for the schoolbus fees. Life is rough for the family,” said Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan, who delivered rice, cooking oil, salt, sugar, biscuits, instant noodles and Milo to Magdline during a recent visit.

The NGO visits the poor and less- fortunate families to contribute to them essential food items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits and instant noodles.

Many of these families or individuals could barely earn enough to get through the month; hence many are grateful with the assistance of these basic necessities delivered to them.

For families caring for children, adults or elderly individuals with special needs, Hope Place delivers milk powder, oat and diapers as well.

The delivery of aid is done once every two months because of the many families on Hope Place’s recipients list. Currently, the NGO supports more than 170 families.

For more information on how to help, call Hope Place at 013- 567 2775 / 082- 505 987 from 8.30am to noon, and 2pm to 5pm – Mondays to Fridays. On Saturdays, the line is open from 9am to noon only.

Should anyone be interested to make donations, they should request for receipts from the staff at Hope Place. For donation, have the donations payable to ‘ Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching’ via Maybank account 5112- 8900-1160.
