Thousands of cosplay fans expected for CXM 2017 on Nov 4-5
MIRI: Cosplay Exhibition Miri 2017 ( CXM 2017) will be taking place at Bintang Megamall here on Nov 4 and 5, running 11am to 9pm daily.
Jointly organised by Bintang Megamall and Naja Enterprise, the event – entering its third year – celebrates the latest Japanese pop culture of cosplay and anime, manga, music and video games.
Bintang Megamall event manager Allen Wong, at a press conference yesterday, said the event started out in 2015 and since then, it has attracted thousands of followers.
“Last year, more than 3,000 attended the event; therefore, we want to offer more activities over the two- day programme this year,” he said.
Among the activities to be featured during CXM 2017 will include ‘Gunpla and Cardfight Vanguard’ competition, FIFA 17 tournament, Hot Wheels drag race, stage performances by local and international cosplayers, an exhibition by toy collectors and workshops conducted by experts of Gunpla and Cardfight Vanguard.
Wong added that four popular cosplayers – Miss Tuna of South Korea, Miss Koyuki Yukihime of Thailand, Miss Chono of Vietnam, and Clarissa Punipun of Indonesia – would be making appearances at the event.
“They will meet and greet their fans, and also attend photo sessions.”
Apart from cosplaying, Wong said the event would include a mix of family-friendly activities suitable for children of all ages.
“We want to focus on entertainment, community and cultural diversity in a fun, inclusive, safe and accessible setting for both the young and the old.
“Among the family attractions to be featured are a dinosaur show, appearances of popular cartoon mascots and superhero characters, carnival-like games, Formula 1 simulator, creative art workshop, and a street science show that would surely catch the young children’s attention.”
