Dr Amin’s appointment proves govt did not sideline people of Sabah and Sarawak — GAUM

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The appointment of Datuk Dr Amin Senin as the new Education Director- General proves that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abd Razak has not neglected the people of Sabah and Sarawak as claimed by Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Chairman of Gerakan Akar Umbi UmnoMalaysia ( GAUM) Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar said the accusations made by the former Prime Minister that Najib was trying to erode the rights and special position of Sabah and Sarawak was far from true.

“Although the appointment of the Director- General of Education is based on merit, we are convinced the concept of togetherness practised by the states in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah and Sarawak is also a factor in the appointment,” he said

Amin, who was the Deputy Director- General ( Teachers’ Professional Development Sector), will take over from Tan Sri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof, effective this Thursday,

Amin who is from Sabah and has served in the civil service for 33 years, has held several positions including as director of Institut Aminuddin Baki and deputy rector of the Teachers’ Training Institute.

Zulkarnain said during Mahathir’s reign, no civil servant from Sabah and Sarawak was appointed to the highest posts in the Federal Administration or as Senior Minister in the Cabinet. — Bernama
