Over 110 bowlers at National Sports Day tourney

KUCHING: One hundred and eighteen bowlers took part in the Unity Bowling Tournament at Megalanes Sarawak, Batu Kawa last Saturday.

The event, jointly organised by the Persatuan Tenpin Boling Para Negeri Sarawak ( PTBPNS) and the Youth and Sports Department (JBS) Sarawak in conjunctio­n with National Sports Day, was divided into five categories.

Edward Juit knocked down 646 pins to win the singles title while Abg Muhd Fakhri was second with 642 and Datin Rakiah third with 614. They received RM300, RM200 and RM100 respective­ly.

Datin Rakiah collected another RM100 for winning the Ladies category followed by Dayang Khairuniza Dhiyana Jamaliddon and Siti Rahmatina who received RM80 and RM50 respective­ly.

Top three in the 169 & Below category - Abang Muhd Fakhri with 642 pins, Datin Rakiah (614) and Mohd Ridzuan ( 606) - were rewarded with RM50, RM30 and RM20 respective­ly.

Meanwhile, Alim Sohai out bowled the rest in the OKU A event with 491 pins while Mohd Shahidan Ibrahim ( 466) was second (466) and Julaihi Khalik Lamat (456) third. They walked off with RM300, RM200 and RM100 respective­ly.

In the OKU B category, Abg Muhd Fakhri (642), Mohd Ridzuan Madzhi ( 606) and Siw Sing Hie (589) collected RM300, RM200 and RM100 respective­ly.

Hampers,gifts and lucky draw prizes were also given out to those finishing from fourth to 10th and winners and high game awards for the top two scorers in each game.

“It was a very successful event and we are already planning to organise a bigger tournament next year with more in store to prove that if given the chance, we can also organise an event with much fun fare as proven in the last two events,” said PTBNS president Dunstan Lim.

He thanked JBS Sarawak, Pelita Sarawak, Ernst & Young Sarawak, Cahya Mata Sarawak, GS Uniform Sdn Bhd, A Clouet & Co ( KL) Sdn Bhd and Datin Rakiah for their support.
