RM160 million LNG pipeline to be completed by 2019 — Zambry

IPOH: The Perak State Government expects the constructi­on of the 140 - kilometre liquefied natural gas ( LNG) pipeline from Ayer Tawar, Manjung to Kinta Val ley, which cost RM160 million, to be fully completed by 2019.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said this proved that the state government was committed to making Perak one of Malaysia’s largest investment hubs.

“The completion of the project will be made in phases starting from the fourth quarter of 2018 to the third quarter of 2019,” he said.

Zambry said this at the Federation of Malaysian Manufactur­ers’ dinner the night before.

He said the constructi­on of the LNG pipeline was seen as a very positive developmen­t for the state as well as for the industries in the hub which would made them to become more competive.

“The LNG project is expected to be a ‘game changer’ for industrial developmen­t in the Kinta Valley and thus would benefit 53 existing industries.

“In fact, the project is currently 40 per cent completed and is expected to attract more and more parties from within and outside the country to invest in the Kinta Valley,” he said.

He said the state government invested RM10 mil lion in the whi le RM50 mi l l ion was from the Federa l Go v e r nme n t and t he rest was from Malaysia Gas Bhd.

“We are ver y much interested in this project because it will indirectly benefit many parties where it will reduce operating costs for various industries,” he said. — Bernama
