BINTULU: Bintulu Sentral Bus Terminal will be fully operational by next Wed (Oct 25), according to Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) general manager Rodziah Morshidi.

The old bus terminal at Medan Jaya, located adjacent to the new terminal, will be closed starting midnight on Oct 24, to make way for the new, comfortable and airconditioned service at Bintulu Sentral.

“With the opening of the new bus terminal, this will bring to the people an international standard facility open 24 hours daily, and this is a great improvement on the quality of bus services in the central region of Sarawak,” Rodziah told a press conference yesterday.

The new terminal has 17 ticket counters, 37 bus parking spaces and four parking spaces dedicated to tour buses.

It is also equipped with special security features such as Closed Circuit Cameras (CCTV) to ensure the safety of the public using the terminal every day.

“All this clearly demonstrates BDA, together with relevant government agencies, really emphasises the quality of infrastructure in Bintulu in order to make this town and the surrounding areas a comfortable place to live in,” Rodziah added.

According to her, the old bus terminal will be re- developed with proper planning to make it a useful facility for the people in Bintulu.
