Once again, Oprah Winfrey says she won’t run for office

-

EVERYBODY together now: Oprah Winfrey, THE Oprah Winfrey, is not running for president. Got that? Good. Don’t worry that bit of deja vu you might be feeling is totally normal. The talk show queen has been in doing the will- shewon’tshe tango for years, with the rumours ratcheting up (and subsequently swatted down) since the 2016 presidential campaign. In June, after previously teasing of a possible political bid, the media mogul made things pretty plain. “I will never run for public office,” said Winfrey on a Hollywood Reporter podcast, when asked if she’d throw her hat in the 2020 ring against President Donald Trump. Sounds pretty defi nitive, right?

Well, just last month, Winfrey retweeted an article that dubbed her the Dems “best hope” for 2020. Cue the catchy slogans! Rent the campaign bus, er, jet! The network head even thanked New York Post columnist John Podhoretz for his “VOTE of confidence.” Wink wink.

But don’t order your Oprah 2020 T-shirts just yet.

Wednesday, Winfrey showed up on “CBS This Morning” (she’s joined the “60 Minutes” gang) and told her pal Gayle King that she wouldn’t be coming to Washington (at least not to move into the White House).

“There will be no running for office of any kind for me,” Winfrey told King when asked if she’d narrowed down her list of potential running mates. So that’s the fi nal word for now. Or is it? — WP-Bloomberg
