MELAKA: A carwash employee was brought to the Sessions Court in Ayer Keroh here on two counts of committing unnatural sex and outraging the modesty of a woman last month.

Abdul Rauf Singaravelu, 28, from Parit Jawa, Muar, Johor pleaded not guilty to the charge which was read before Justice Norma Ismail.

He was charged with committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent on a woman, aged 40, in a house in Taman Bukit Melaka here between 11.30pm and 1am on Sept 18.

He was charged under Section 377C of the Penal Code which provides for a jail sentence of up to 20 years and shall also be liable to whipping, if found guilty.

The father- of- one was also charged with using force with intent to outrage the modesty of the woman who was employed as an assistant in a food outlet at the same place, time and day.

On this, Abdul Rauf was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail sentence of up to 10 years or fine or whipping, or any two of such punishments, if found guilty.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Shazreen Nadia Saaban did not offer any surety as it was a serious offence and it is feared that the accused would harass the victim and witnesses.

Abdul Rauf was also charged under Section 377( CA) and 323 of the Penal Code with committing unnatural sex and injuring the same victim at the same place, day and time.

Shazreen Nadia also requested that the two cases be heard together.

The accused, who was unrepresented, requested for bail on the grounds that he has to support a child, aged one year eight months, and two siblings.

The court did not allow bail and fixed Feb 22 and 23 next year for the trial. — Bernama
