Public get to try out club facilities for free on Open Day

MIRI: Gymkhana Club Miri ( GCM) will hold its Open Day on Oct 28 to 29 ( Saturday and Sunday) for the public to try out club facilities for free.

Organising chairman Richard Soo urged the public to take advantage of the many activities to be held from 10am to 8pm on its first day ( Saturday) and 10am to 5pm the following day.

“We are glad to organise this Open Day on a year to year basis to give an opportunit­y to the public to try out various club facilities without having to pay,” Soo said in a statement yesterday.

Among the fun-filled activities lined up are GCM Colouring Contest and Spelling Bee for primary school children and GCM Karate Championsh­ip, and sports activities like running, obstacles games, American Tennis and weightlift­ing.

“Halloween corner will be set up during the Open Day. Various games and activities have been planned at this corner. The winner of the best Halloween costume will receive a special prize.

“A Creative Photo Contest will be held and the winner will walk away with a prize worth RM500,” he said.

GCM with its crystal clear swimming pool wi l l give an opportunit­y to the public to try out dive and swimming sessions for free during the Open Day.

Food lovers should not miss the event as a variety of local delicacies will be on sale on both days such as homemade satay, nasi kukus ayam berempah, banana cheese and chocolate, chicken pie, laksa, gula apong tea, western food, mee jawa and GCM homemade bun.

He said in conjunctio­n with this Open Day, the Club is holding a promotion of RM1,000 rebate on membership fee plus a chance to win lucky draw prizes.
