ITB Asia a successful outing for Sarawak travel industry players
SINGAPORE: A Sarawak tourism team presently in Singapore for a destination promotion scored another business success yesterday.
On the second day of the ITB Asia outing, the team was at the Marina Bay Sands exhibition centre on a business appointment arranged by the fair organiser.
The outings have gotten Sarawak travel partners on their feet for the past two days with back- to- back meetings with international partners who showed interest in Sarawak as an emerging destination.
Yvonne Saman of Marian Boutique Lodging House, a first timer in this kind of business outing was excited, expressing satisfaction with the quality of buyers she met during the business meetings.
“We received positive feedback from buyers from India, China, Sri Lanka and Indonesia about the destination and our latest property in Kuching has been a hit for these buyers,” she said through a Sarawak Tourism Board ( STB) press statement yesterday.
Ahsweein Narayanan of Amogha Tours & Travel Sdn Bhd, Kuching, who is also new to the business, is pushing religious packages featuring Hindu, Buddhist and Taoist temple tours in Kuching, besides medical and corporate tours for Sarawak.
Hannah Choo, director of Sales for CPH Travel, commended the fair, saying they would return to participate next year.
STB’s booth was a hive of business activity yesterday and it is hoping the final day today will see good returns for the 11 industry partners attending the fair.
Sarawak’s travel industry was represented by seven travel agents, two hotels, and venue providers Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) and Sarawak Convention Bureau.
From January to August this year, Singapore arrivals have increased by 1.53 per cent with a total of 25,922 visitors.
