Hope Place appeals for adult diapers, drink supplement for bedridden patient
KUCHING: Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan is appealing for donations in the form of adult diapers and nutrition drink supplements for a bedridden patient at Bau Hospital.
Yong Eng Chai, 45, was brought to the hospital after being found lying by the roadside about two months ago, and has not received any visitors up till Wan’s visit on Wednesday
“I was told by a medical officer that the patient is paralysed and has brain damage. He cannot speak or move, and hardly eats,” he said in a press statement yesterday.
According to Wan, Bau Hospital had published Yong’s picture in a local newspaper in the hope of alerting any family members or relatives, but with no success.
“Yong urgently needs three to four pieces of ‘ L’ - sized adult diapers every day, as well as a can of Ensure milk ( 900g) every two-to-three days.
“These items are very expensive and currently, Hope Place is in shortage of size ‘ L’ adult diapers by about 150 packs, and Ensure milk ( 900g) by about 180 tins.”
Those who wish to help can call Wan ( 016- 8660711). Alternatively, contact the Hope Place hotline ( 013- 5672775 or 082- 505987) between 8.30am-12 noon and 2pm5pm on Mondays to Fridays, and from 9am-12 noon on Saturdays.
