Increasing public awareness of breast cancer

MIRI: The public are invited to come in full force to the two- day Kiss Goodbye To Breast Cancer Programme 2017, starting today ( Oct 27) at Avon Cosmetics ( M) Sdn Bhd @ Joyce Beauty Boutique in front of Permaisuri Imperial City Mall.

The programme to increase public awareness of breast cancer is organised by Klinik Nur Sejahtera of National Population and Family Developmen­t Board ( LPKKN) here.

Organising spokespers­on said the programme is organised in collaborat­ion with Avon Cosmetics ( M) Sdn Bhd @ Joyce Beauty Boutique ( Miri) and La Danza Studio Fitness & Dance.

“World Breast Cancer is celebrated in October every year thus various activities have been lined up throughout the month by government agencies, especially Ministry of Health Malaysia, non- government­al organisati­on, corporate sector, private sector and medical sector.

“The main objective of the programme is to increase community awareness of breast cancer, in particular among women, by providing informatio­n on prevention and early detection.”

Being an agency under the Ministry of Women Developmen­t, Family and Community, the spokespers­on said LPPKN hopes the programme will serve as another platform to educate women on the need for early detection of breast cancer, and give moral support to women diagnosed with breast cancer.

Various activities have been lined up for the two- day event from 10am to 5pm daily: free health screening such as body mass index ( BMI), cholestero­l, glucose and blood pressure, free pap smear service through Mobile Clinic, demonstrat­ion on breast self- examinatio­n, examinatio­n, MamaCare service ( massage for women), makeup competitio­n, lucky draw, DIY on Hand Spa and Kizomba Dance Ladies Styling.
