High-level water tank proposed for Julau

-

JULAU: A high-level tank is being proposed to be built on Bukit Agok along Jalan Entabai here to further boost the water supply system in Julau.

Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat said the proposal was under Phase 2 of Julau Water Supply Upgrading programme.

The proposed project is estimated to cost RM61 million, he disclosed to The Borneo Post after he was briefed on the latest status of treated water supply in Julau by an officer from Sarikei Divisional Rural Water Supply Department(JBALB), Chieng Kuok Hien, recently.

The project is long overdue as according to records, it has been proposed in 2002, Rolland said.

“I hope this time around when I bring up the proposed project to the attention of the Ministry of Utilities, it will be listed among the top priority projects for next year,” Rolland added.

He pointed out that the Bukit Agok high-level tank would ensure efficiency of water supply along Jalan Julau/Nanga Entabai where 56 longhouses are located.

Rolland, who was also brought around to tour the Julau Water Treatment Plant, said that he would also request for funds to upgrade the existing treatment plant as part of the Julau transformation programme.

Among those present to welcome Rolland during the visit were officer in charge of JBALB Julau, Fabian Juna, and Sarikei JBALB assistant engineer Pauline Ajun.
