47 attend Sports Science petanque course
BINTULU: A tot a l o f 47 participants from all divisions recently completed the Sports Science Level 1 petanque course held at the Saratok District Council meeting room.
The closing ceremony for the five- day course was officiated by Saberkas Kalaka chairman Abadi Hussein representing Kalaka assemblyman Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz last Saturday.
Sarawak Petanque Association ( Pepsar) secretary Janudin Ab Rahman was looking forward to the participants passing out as qualified coaches.
“I hope all of them will pass and become a certified coach, so far there are only five certified petanque coaches in Sarawak,” he said.
He hoped they could then contribute towards the effort to help Sarawak become a sports powerhouse in petanque.
Meanwhile, Abadi commended Pepsar for organising the course and for choosing Saratok as the venue.
“So with t hese cer t i f ied coaches, hopefully can lead to more Sarawakians representing the country in the international level championships such as the Asian Games and Olympics,” he added.
Also present at the closing ceremony were Sarawak Sports Counci l course committee chairman Jubali Suhaili who represented the MSNS director, National Coaching Academy officer Freddy Affendy, Sarawak MSNS petanque sports coordinator Zurema Majenan, Malaysian Petanque Federation technical committee member Rasit Desa and Saratok Petanque Association president Abg Shamsudin Abg Ahmad.
