‘People-centric Budget 2018 will help improve incomes’
MIRI: Budget 2018 is peoplecentric and should help to improve the incomes of Malaysians, said United People’s Party (UPP) Pujut.
UPP Pujut chairman Bruce Chai said the various incentives offered would encourage the people to get involved in the field of business, as well as help upgrade those already involved in cottage industries, food trading, and agriculture-based industries.
“Overall, the budget this time around is oriented on the people’s economy, that is to improve their income and opportunities,” he said when commenting on Budget 2018 tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Friday.
Chai said for Sarawak, the allocation of RM500 million for the construction of rural roads would also improve the standard of living for the people.
“A big budget has been allocated to improve facilities in rural Sarawak areas. This include roads, street lights, bridges, telecommunication, electricity and water,” he said.
Chai pointed out the allocation to upgrade police stations and equipment of police personnel would also improve security and services provided by the police.
For education, Chai said he hopes the RM1 billion allocation to improve dilapidated schools would be put to good use.
“This is good news. Now we will have allocation to improve schools here that are run down,” he added.
